1.3 Policies, Procedures, Programs & Funding
Candidates research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. Funding strategies may include the development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals.
Artifact: Action Evaluation Plan
Reflection:
This artifact is an Action Evaluation Plan completed for the Instructional Technology Leadership course. Through the use of my SWOT analysis, I determined three technology goals for my school and developed strategies, timelines, and evaluation methods for each goal.
Through the completion of this Action Evaluation Plan, I have demonstrated that I am able to research and recommend the policies, procedures, programs, and funding strategies to implement a shared vision. Since, I knew that our county is very short on funds, I decided to pull the majority of our resources from the knowledge base that already exists or from free resources. In my research, I learned that it is very important to have technology integrated into the school’s improvement plan. I created a goal to help reach that and used the strategy of creating a technology committee to accomplish this goal.
This artifact also clearly demonstrates my ability to implement the policies, procedures, programs, and funding strategies to implement the shared vision because I laid out a clear timeline with responsible parties listed. I created obtainable goals and used already in place observations and other school resources so that implementation would not be an extra burden.
Completing this artifact gave me experience in analyzing the biggest needs of a school in relationship to technology and creating goals and procedures for overcoming those needs. This artifact taught me that although there may be many obstacles to overcome in a school, if you break down the problem into smaller goals, they seem much easier to accomplish. To improve this artifact, I would ask for other stakeholders input for the goals instead of decided on them myself. For instance, our most recent SACs review gave us two very clear technology goals for the county. I would incorporate those into my plan.
