1.4 Diffusion of Innovations & Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools.
Artifact: Action Plan
Reflection:
This artifact is an Action Plan completed for the Instructional Technology Leadership course. After extensive research using The Data Coach’s Guide, I developed a detailed plan to rollout the Using Data Process of Collaborative Inquiry. Included in the plan are goals, activities, time frames, pacing, materials needed and persons involved. The plan spans an entire school year with suggestions for follow-up over the summer and tasks to be completed the following year.
Through the completion of this Action Plan, I have demonstrated that I am able to research and recommend strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and managing the change process. I have clearly laid out a technology infused plan for sustaining change in regards to how our school uses data. While much of the plan focuses on data and not technology integration, the strategies for initiating, sustaining, and managing a change are the same.
This artifact also shows that I am able to implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations & for managing change process because I have laid out a clear plan for implementation. This implementation plan could be followed by anyone with step-by-step instructions for initiating change and sustaining the changes that have been made.
Through this artifact I learned how long of a process changing a school’s patterns truly is. I typically get very excited about new ideas and what to make swift sweeping changes. That type of change is often not sustainable, especially when dealing with an entire faculty. This artifact showed me that producing sustainable change is an ongoing process of small changes and requires the input of many dedicated parties. To improve upon this artifact, I would create an action plan based on technology changes instead of using data with the use of technology. This would be more beneficial to me as a future instructional technology leader.
