2.1 Content Standards & Student Technology Standards
Candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology standards.
Artifact: Content Report PowerPoint
Reflection:
This artifact is a Content Report PowerPoint completed for the 21st Century Teaching and Learning course. This artifact required me to analyze technologies available for a specific content area and develop a presentation to share with teachers of what these technologies are and how they could be used to support the specific content area. I chose math as my content area and GeoGebra, graphing calculators, probes, The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives, and Illuminations as my technology to support math content knowledge.
This PowerPoint is aligned to student content standards because for each technology I share an example of how to use the technology with NCTM, CCSS, or mathematical process standards listed. Each activity meets several math content standards. This artifact is also aligned to student technology standards because on the “How?” slide for each technology, I list the LoTI level as well as the authentic learning indicators that the activity meets. This artifact clearly shows that I possess the ability to model and facilitate the design and implementation of a technology-enhanced learning experience because I have found or created several technology-enhance learning activities and given teachers resources to find more activities.
This artifact was very enjoyable to create. I love finding new ways to teach my content. I use many of these tools in my class every year and it was great to get to share my ideas with other teachers. I learned that there are many ways to incorporate technology into any classroom. This artifact could be improved in several ways. The ISTE standards for students should be listed for each activity. Secondly, the PowerPoint was created for me to present and I provided a lot more detail in the presentation. Since that presentation was not saved, the PowerPoint would be more effective if it were more detailed.
