Artifact: Literature Review
Reflection:
This artifact is a Literature Review completed for the Educational Research course. I chose to do the Literature Review on Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT). I research BYOT from multiple sources and compiled my findings into this document.
By completing this Literature Review, I show my ability to continually grown in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies. My district has recently adopted BYOT and this artifact shows my ability and willingness to research and assess new technology innovations in regards to their use in education. One of the major components of this artifact is the recommendation how to implement BYOT successfully. My attention to these details shows that I am able to apply the knowledge and skills I have gained from my research to improve professional practice.
This artifact taught me how to research a new aspect of instructional technology and evaluate the sources to decide if they are providing good information. It showed me how difficult it can be to find research studies on new instructional technology strategies and the importance of case studies and the like. I also learned that no matter what new strategy one is trying to implement, it is always a good idea to seek out advice from others who have tried it or something similar. Participating in a professional learning network is a valuable part of improving personal productivity and professional practices. To improve on this artifact, I would love to include some of my own observations on how BYOT has been implemented in my district. However, we are still in the piloting phase and have not even had a full year of implementation in pilot classrooms yet.
